The monastery has always played an important role in the spiritual life of Ukraine. The Savior-Transfiguration Cathedral is the jewel of the monastery. One of the most prominent architectural monuments built in the Ukrainian Baroque style, it was constructed in the late 17th century using funds given by the hetmans Ivan Samoilovych and Ivan Mazepa.
