This coin celebrates the Mykola Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum, a cultural center of Sloboda Ukraine (a region in the northeast of the country, as well as eastern Ukraine), and one of the largest museums in Ukraine. Each year, more than 200,000 people visit the museum, which has for over 100 years been an important research, scientific, methodological and cultural center in Kharkiv oblast. The museum was founded by Mykola Sumtsov, who also was the museum’s first director. Sumtsov was a renowned scholar, ethnographer, and historian, who studied people’s way of life and world views.Interesting fact
