The cold yar is a monument of nature, history and culture importance in Ukraine.The Cold Jar is a relic forest with a large number of beams and steep yars. The area of Kholodny Yar is more than 7,000 hectares.
Cold Yar is famous for its richest history. On the territory of the Cold Lake, archaeologists have discovered a large number of ancient sites and settlements, traces of all known cultures living on the territory of Ukraine.
Cold Yar is an important part of the history of Ukraine too due to he was sung by Taras Shevchenko in the poem of the same name, the "Koliivshchina" where began from Kholivshchina an uprising of the population against the oppression of Poland in 1768.
Here from 1918 to 1923, the rebel forces fought against both the Denikin and the Bolsheviks and it was proclaimed Holodnoyarsk republic headed by the brothers Chuchupak, whose army numbered more than 15,000 soldiers.
