There is a conventionalized parchment scroll with a scene of the battle between the Polish and Lithuanian armies with the record whereof the city chronology begins. To the left and right of the scroll there is a conventionalized ornamental pattern, above which there is the coat of arms of the city (at the left) and the legend 725/РОКІВ (725 years) (on the right); underneath there is the semicircular inscription ПЕРША ПИСЕМНА ЗГАДКА (first record).

Rivne was first mentioned in 1283 as a town of the Kingdom of Halych-Volhynia in connection with the battle between the armies of Leszek II the Black, a duke of Krakow (Cracow), and Vytenis, a Lithuanian prince.Interesting fact
