One known piece according to Jürg Richter, Die Proben und Materialvarianten von Schweizer Münzen, 2016. The piece was part of the Faruk Collection auctioned in 1954.

The edge inscription shows some partial embossing that differs from the circulation specimens minted in silver.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Pattern 5 Francs (Helvetia seated; trial; copper) 1886 from Switzerland is that it was designed by the artist and engraver, Karl Schwenzer. Schwenzer was a prominent artist in Switzerland during the late 19th century and his designs were used on several Swiss coins, including this particular pattern coin. The coin features a seated image of Helvetia, the national personification of Switzerland, on the obverse, and a depiction of the Swiss Alps on the reverse. The coin was minted in 1886 as a trial piece, and only a limited number were produced, making it a rare and valuable collector's item.
