Comment

The main difference to the original pieces struck in 1813 (KM# Pn17) is on the Edge:
KM# Pn17: Copper; edge in five segments;
KM# Pn18: Copper-plated tin; edge in three segments;

• HMZ lists these pieces as copies of HMZ# 2-720d;
• KM lists these pieces as 19th Century restrikes of KM# Pn17;
• Richter Pr lists these pieces as forgeries of Richter Pr# 1-634. The copies were done by the Belgian Auguste Brichaut (1836-1897) in collaboration with Atelier Würden in Brussels. Although these coins are often listed as restrikes, the comparison to the originals clearly shows that Brichaut used entirely new dies.
