Comment
In 1991, fourteen Ibero-American countries agreed to mint a common coin, starting the important cultural and numismatic project, called SERIE IBEROAMERICANA.A singular characteristic of these series is that each participating country allows its national shield to appear reproduced on the coins of the other countries, a fact that had not occurred throughout the twenty-five centuries of Numismatic History.
This XI Series is broadcast under the theme NATURAL WONDERS. For this reason, the reverse of each of the coins can be seen in original color designs such as the rock formations of the natural monument of Playa de las Catedrales in the Spanish currency, Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, the Momotombo volcano in Nicaragua or the Monday Jumps in Paraguay, among others.
All the pieces in the collection, including the medal, have a metric of 4 reales, old coins minted both in Spain and in the American mints, so they have a weight of 13.5 grams and 33 mm in diameter. Below are the face values of each of the pieces. Click on the name of the country to see the enlarged image of the obverse and reverse of the coins.
