Comment
The year 2021 has been proclaimed Year of Rail by the European Union. Throughout the year there will be (online) events and initiatives in Europe to increase the share of people and goods that travel by rail. This is one of the goals of the European Green Deal; transport by train is environmentally friendly, comfortable and safe. The European Year of Rail aims to promote the train as a sustainable means of transport.Last year, the Royal Mint of Belgium reflected on the very first train that ran on the European mainland in 1835. This special silver coin is now getting a numismatic sequel! Celebrate the European Year of Rail with an official 5 euro coin in numbered coincard. The coin has been designed by Iris Bruijns and seems to really move due to the multiview technique. The train moves forward when the coin is moved from left to right.
