The former Kärntnertor Theater ("Carinthian Gate Theater" which stood next to the present Opera House until 1870). This is where Beethoven's 9th symphony with the "Ode to Joy" was performed in public. The first notes of the melody in the symphony itself and a cameo portrait of Beethoven complete the design.
