Interesting fact

The Carabinieri Monetary Anti-counterfeiting Command (CMAC) is a specialized unit of the Italian Carabinieri, a military police force, that is responsible for investigating and combating counterfeiting of currency and other financial crimes. The CMAC was established in 1992 and has since been at the forefront of efforts to prevent and detect counterfeiting of the euro, which was introduced in 1999. The 5 Euro coin is one of several commemorative coins issued by the CMAC in 2022 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The coin features the CMAC's emblem on one side and the logo of the European Central Bank on the other, surrounded by a bimetallic ring made of copper-nickel and bronzital (a bronze-like alloy). The coin weighs 9.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters. It's interesting to note that the CMAC is not only responsible for investigating counterfeiting, but also for educating the public about the dangers of counterfeiting and how to recognize genuine currency. The CMAC also works closely with other law enforcement agencies and financial institutions to prevent and detect financial crimes.
