Interesting fact
The 5 Drachmai coin featuring King George I was minted in 1901 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his reign. It was the first coin to bear the king's image, and it was also the first silver coin to be issued in Greece in over 200 years. The coin's design was created by the famous Greek engraver, Ioannis Stamatopoulos, and it features an image of the king on one side and the Greek goddess Athena on the other.
