Cree artist Tim Whiskeychan has created a wonderful design of a traditional Aboriginal hunter taking aim at a pair of Canada geese with his bow and arrow. He is wearing traditional Cree clothing. The hunter is hiding behind tall grass that would typically border a body of water where boreal forest meets grasslands. The snow melt on the water suggests this is a springtime goose hunt.

Comment
Goose hunting has been part of Native American life for thousands of years. Every autumn and spring, communities along the migratory routes looked to the sky, a precious source of food that could sustain families living on the coast for four months.Hunters interpreted the signs of the weather to anticipate the arrival of the geese, and even watched the ice melt to predict where on the water they would land. The hunt often lasted for days, and was a moment of sharing between generations, marked by the rite of passage for young men, who hunted alone for the first time.
Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case is accompanied by a black protective box.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the "Tradition of Hunting - Goose" silver coin is that it features a unique design that showcases a goose in flight, with its wings spread wide, on the reverse side of the coin. This design was created by Canadian artist, Robert Bateman, who is known for his wildlife artwork and has designed several coins for the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin's design is not only visually striking, but it also represents the rich tradition of hunting in Canada, specifically the practice of hunting geese, which is a popular activity among hunters in the country.
