Comment
The evolution of paper money over the past three centuries has required the development of a highly specialized art form and the ingenuity of human technology in the context of a changing economy. As soon as it opened in 1867, The Canadian Bank of Commerce issued a series of banknotes. Then, in 1888, it put into circulation another series of colored banknotes of different denominations, an issue so reliable that the formula remained the same for almost 30 years. This coin is the first in an exciting new series celebrating the art and evolution of Canadian banknote designs.
