The bald eagle's life is full from sunrise to sunset. As soon as it wakes up, it's busy: tending its nest, soaring to high altitudes, hunting, feeding its young and sometimes stopping to feed and rest. Let's take advantage of this moment of rest to study the fearsome face of this dominant predator.

Dominated by a massive, sharply curved yellow beak, the adult bald eagle's head is covered to the neck with long, soft white feathers, whose arrangement above its large golden eyes gives the bird a scowling look that is perhaps not unrelated to its symbolic link with power. The eyes are the most important attribute of this emblematic head. Thanks to their sharp vision, bald eagles soar hundreds of meters into the sky and are able to spot relatively small prey underwater or on grassy plains, despite their natural camouflage.

- The fascinating bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is Canada's largest bird of prey and the only eagle found exclusively in North America.
- An eagle's vision is about four times sharper than that of a human.
- This bird's vision encompasses the entire color spectrum.
- Its vision can be concentrated in two foci, enabling it to see both forwards and backwards.
- Their eyes are equipped with nictitating membranes that are translucent, allowing them to blink without blocking the view.
- Females are generally larger than males.
- Bald Eagles can live up to 30 years in the wild, and even longer in captivity.
- Bald Eagles nest throughout Canada, from the Yukon east to Newfoundland. It is widespread along the Pacific coast, and is also found in the prairie provinces, northwestern Ontario, parts of Quebec and Cape Breton Island.
- The bald eagle is a protected species in Canada and the United States.

The bald eagle breathes through nares, the openings on either side of its large beak, which is impressive in size and shape, but is used almost exclusively for tearing up food and does not play an important role in hunting or fighting. Instead, the bird uses its massive talons.

A dominant predator with no natural enemies in adulthood, it has always embodied foresight, power and imperturbability. As an adult, it has a wingspan of over two meters, measures around one meter erect and can weigh up to seven kilograms. Nesting in tall trees near isolated, good-sized streams, away from human settlements, it feeds on fish, birds, invertebrates and small mammals. Opportunistic, it also doesn't hesitate to steal prey from other predators and feed on carrion.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with a black protective box.Automatically translated
