This coin features Hector's Dolphin which are distinguished by their rounded dorsal fin, black, grey and white markings, and gently sloping snout. The critically endangers North Island Hector's Dolphin is the world's smallest and rarest marine dolphin, with an estimated population of just 100. the larger South Island populations of Banks Penisula, Southland and West Coast, are also thought to be endangered.The coin was issued individually in a capsule in a plush case. (2,000 copies)
It was also included in the 7 coin Uncirculated Year Set. (3,000 copies)
