Comment

This coin is the final coin in the three-coin 'Finale' series. It depicts the valuable work done by Australia's volunteers. The main hologram image of three ordinary Australians faces indicates that anyone can be a volunteer. Tilting the coin, an array of volunteer activities is seen through symbols, such as fire, SES tape, the Red Cross, child care and conservation. Too many volunteer activities exist to include all of them on a single coin.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was designed by the Australian artist, Stuart Devlin, who is known for his work on various coins and medals. The coin features a unique design that showcases the Queen's 4th portrait, surrounded by a wreath of eucalyptus leaves, which is a nod to Australia's national flower, the golden wattle. The coin's obverse side features the inscription "AUSTRALIA'S VOLUNTEERS" and "2003" to commemorate the 2003 International Year of Volunteers. The coin's reverse side features the Queen's 4th portrait, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the inscription "ELIZABETH II" and "5 DOLLARS". The coin's unique design and the use of silver make it a valuable collector's item for numismatists and coin enthusiasts.
