This Fine Silver (.999) Proof NCLT coin was released by the RAM in 2004 to commemorate a significant event in Australian history, the Bicentenary of European settlement in Tasmania. The Bicentennial Year also marked the previous explorations of Dutch, French and British explorers, which led to permanent settlement in 1803 - 1804.An Aluminium-bronze version of the coin was also released in a coincard with a (H) for Hobart Counterstamp.
