This coin features the Kaka, which is a native New Zealand Bush Parrot. They are perfectly adapted to living and feeding entirely in the forest. They are fast flyers and have a powerful beak and a very varied diet. They eat insects and their larvae as well as many kinds of nectar, seeds, and succulent forest fruit. The Kaka feeds in noisy flocks, mainly in early morning and late evening.

The coin was issued individually in coincard. (3,150 copies)

It was also included in the 7 coin Uncirculated Year Set. (5,150 copies)

A Sterling Silver proof version of the coin was also released. (See link)
