Comment
This Commemorative Sterling Silver $5 coin was struck by Royal Mint (UK). It is celebrating 25 Years of Decimal Currency in New Zealand and has representations of various New Zealand Decimal coins issued during that time including ones since withdrawn. The coin was issued in two different ways. It was included in the annual Proof Year Set with 6 standard NZ coins and also individually in a capsule in a plush case.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1992 New Zealand Silver Proof 5 Dollar coin is that it features a unique portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, known as the "3rd Portrait." This portrait was designed by sculptor Raphael Maklouf and was used on British and Commonwealth coins from 1985 to 1997. It features a more mature and regal depiction of the Queen, with a slightly different crown and a more defined jawline compared to the previous portraits. This coin is a rare and collectible item, with only a limited number minted, making it a valuable addition to any coin collection.
