Comment

This coin if not unique is certainly one of the few circulating $5 coins in the world. The reverse design depicts the "Conch Shell" which, when made into a trumpet, is the traditional call to important meetings and to battle. The shell is also symbolic of money.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was designed specifically for the Cook Islands. The portrait was created by sculptor Raphael Maklouf and shows the Queen wearing a crown and a necklace that is adorned with a large pearl. This portrait was used on all Cook Islands coins from 1987 to 1994 and has become a distinctive feature of the country's currency.
