Comment

In modern Dressage competitions, horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements, known as ‘figures’ (volte, serpentine, figure of eight).

Interesting fact

The Equestrian Dressage coin was part of a series of commemorative coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2013 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Army Veterinary Corps. The coin features a depiction of two horses and their riders performing the elegant and precise movements of dressage, a popular equestrian discipline. The coin's design was created by Canadian artist and veterinarian, Dr. Tonya H. R. McEwen.
