The standard weight of these coins was 20⁴∕₅ grains and the silver content was 18⁹∕₁₆ grains, hence the unusual .8924 fineness. In 1837, the composition was changed to .900 silver, .100 copper and the weight decreased to 20⁵∕₈ grains (1.34 grams). The silver content was unchanged.1834
