The Flowing Hair Half Dime, minted from 1794 to 1795, was the first coin to feature a portrait of Lady Liberty on a US coin. The design was created by John Reich and features a depiction of Liberty with flowing hair, hence the name. This coin was also the first to use the motto "In God We Trust," which was added to the coin in 1866.
