Comment

The family pact signed in 1783 between the four branches of the Nassau House held that no female line was possible until another male representative of another branch of the Nassau House existed. After the death of William III, the Ottonian line of the Nassau House died out in its male line and Adolphe de Nassau succeeded William III in 1890. Adolphe was before .

Under the reign of Adolphe de Nassau appeared the first coins of 5 and 10 centimes in cupro-nickel, issued in replacement of copper coins. Only the continued to be minted.

The alloy of this piece is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel.

Interesting fact

The 5 Centimes coin from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, minted in 1901 during the reign of Adolphe, features an interesting design element - a stylized letter "A" on the obverse side, which represents the initial of the Grand Duke's name.
