Comment
Made as provisional substitutes. They were made in a single blow; the stamps were soaked in ink and then struck over the opposing fixated one, which had a sharp round edge which cut out the coin at the same time. All ink has to also be deep or raised in the cardboard as the characters and design were opposed in the stamps, so a flat one would mean a counterfeit.Interesting fact
The Token 5 Centavos (Toluca) 1915 from State of Mexico made of Cardboard weighing 1.04 g is interesting because it is a rare example of a coin made from a non-traditional material. Most coins are made from metals like copper, silver, or gold, but this coin was made from cardboard, which is a common material used for paper products. This unusual choice of material makes the coin stand out and highlights the creativity and resourcefulness of the people who created it.
