Comment
The Nicaragua 5 centavos 1898 does not say "Republica", it says "Estado", because Nicaragua was a member state of the Greater Republic of Central America. The Greater Republic of Central America was a union of Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, that lasted from September 15, 1896 until November 21, 1898, when the Salvadoran government was overthrown by a general. The Greater Republic did establish diplomatic relations with the United States.
