Comment

The Nicaragua 5 centavos 1898 does not say "Republica", it says "Estado", because Nicaragua was a member state of the Greater Republic of Central America.

The Greater Republic of Central America was a union of Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, that lasted from September 15, 1896 until November 21, 1898, when the Salvadoran government was overthrown by a general. The Greater Republic did establish diplomatic relations with the United States.

Interesting fact

The 5 Centavos coin from Nicaragua, minted in 1898, has an interesting feature. It bears the image of the country's national hero, Augusto César Sandino, who played a significant role in Nicaragua's struggle for independence against the United States. This coin was minted during the administration of President José Santos Zelaya, who was instrumental in introducing modern reforms in Nicaragua. Despite its age, this coin remains a popular collector's item, and its historical significance makes it a valuable addition to any numismatic collection.
