One interesting fact about the 40 Para coin from the Regency of Tripoli (Libya) is that it was made of Billon, which is an alloy of copper and silver. This was a common practice in the Ottoman Empire, of which Tripoli was a part, as it allowed for the production of coins that were more durable and resistant to wear and tear than coins made of pure copper or silver. The use of Billon in coinage also made it more difficult for counterfeiters to produce fake coins, as it was harder to replicate the exact composition of the alloy.
