Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Emperor Maurice Tiberius, who ruled the Byzantine Empire from 582 to 602 AD. During his reign, Maurice Tiberius implemented several military and administrative reforms, including the introduction of a new currency system, which included the 40 nummi coin. This coin was made of copper and weighed 13.46 grams, and it was widely used throughout the empire for everyday transactions. Despite its small denomination, the 40 nummi coin played an important role in the economy of the Byzantine Empire during this period.
