Comment
This coin was demonetized owing to its size and weight, very similar to the 3 Pesos (KM# 346, 346a), caused frequent confusions.Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán, Cuban hero (1932-1959), was a key figure in the revolutionary movement, reaching the grade of Commander of the revolutionary army. On 10/28/1959, short time after the revolution success, the plane where he traveled, on a night flight from Camaguey to La Habana, disappeared, and remains were never found.
The city Cienfuegos was named on 1829 to honor of the actual General Captain of Cuba, José Cienfuegos Jovellanos, later the province took same name. Out of both had Spanish origins (Jose was Spain native, and Camilo was son of Spanish parents), there is no prove of being related otherwise.
