Interesting fact
The 4 Mark Dansk coin featuring Frederik III (Type III) was minted during a time of great change in Denmark. In 1653, the same year that this coin was first minted, the Danish monarchy was transformed into an absolute monarchy, giving the king complete control over the government and the power to make laws without the consent of the nobility or the church. This significant political shift was reflected in the coin's design, which features an image of King Frederik III on one side and the Danish coat of arms on the other. Despite the changes happening in Denmark during this time, the coin remained a standard circulation coin and was used widely throughout the country.
