Comment

These novodel pieces (official restrikes) were struck using the same dies as the official coins. While the exact date these novodels were struck is unknown, they would have been struck in 1758 at the very earliest.

Because these coins were struck on a 24 Kopeck planchet, yet cut to be the same diameter, these novodels are much thicker, making them more than twice as heavy.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Empress Elizabeth of Russia, who ruled from 1741 to 1762. She was known for her extensive collection of coins and medals, and this particular coin is a rare example of a non-circulating coin that was minted during her reign. Non-circulating coins were not meant to be used in everyday transactions but were instead produced for special occasions or as gifts for dignitaries. The fact that this coin was made of silver and weighs 2.86 grams suggests that it was a high-quality coin intended for a special purpose or recipient.
