3200 Réis = ½ Peça

KM 183.1 / Bentes 180: Bahia Mint; JOSEPHUS.
KM 183.2 / Bentes 181: Rio de Janeiro Mint; JOSEPHUS.

The 3200 Réis coins from the Mint of Bahia (KM 183.1 / Bentes 180) are extremely rare in all dates.
Both in the legend of the Mint of Bahia, and that of the Mint of Rio de Janeiro, the name of the sovereign is written JOSEPHUS.

 3200 Réis 1756-R (KM 183.2 / Bentes 181.03) Variants:
+ 1756-R - Bentes 181.03 - Overdate 1755.
+ 1756-R - Bentes 181.03 - Overdate 1755 and overdate 1754 in same coin; Extremely Rare, Only 1 Piece Known.
A unique interesting and very rare specimen of 3200 Réis from the Mint of Rio de Janeiro is known, which demonstrates that the coin die was used on three different dates (overdate). The first, 1754, where the traces of the "4" can be seen. Then the date was overdate to 1755, with the details of "5" barely visible. The last date, 1756, is that of this very rare specimen.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 3200 Réis - José I coin is that it was minted in two different locations, the Bahia Mint and the Rio de Janeiro Mint, which is reflected in the coin's design. The obverse of the coin features the crowned portrait of King José I, while the reverse depicts the royal coat of arms and the mint mark "B" for Bahia or "R" for Rio de Janeiro, indicating which mint it was produced at. This unique feature allows collectors to identify the coin's origin and adds to its historical significance.
