Comment

Vila Rica mint, in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

3200 Réis = ½ Peça (also known as 1 Dobra of 2 Escudos)

 1733-M Overdate variants:
- Bentes 124.07 - Overdate 1727.
- Bentes 124.08 - Overdate 1732.

The 3200 Réis coins from the Mint of Vila Rica (Minas Gerais) are extremely rare, the date 1727 being of the highest rarity. The rare specimens observed for the dates 1729, 1730, 1731 and 1733 are all with overdates. Together with the coins from Bahia, they are among the rarest coins of King João V. There are no coins dated 1723; in fact it is the coin with the date 1733, overdate 1727, where the "2", overdate to "3", left its traces clearly visible.

Interesting fact

The 3200 Réis - João V (Vila Rica) coin from Brazil, made of gold (.917) and weighing 7.17g, is a rare and valuable coin among collectors due to its historical significance and limited mintage. It was minted during the reign of King João V of Portugal, who ruled from 1706 to 1750, and was used as a standard circulation coin in Brazil during that time. The coin's design features the king's crowned bust on one side and the Portuguese coat of arms on the other. Its gold content and historical significance make it a highly sought-after collector's item, and it is considered a prized addition to any numismatic collection.
