Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of St. Maksymilian Kolbe, a Polish Catholic priest who was imprisoned and died in Auschwitz during World War II. He was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1982 and is considered a martyr of charity, as he volunteered to die in place of a fellow prisoner who had a family. The coin was issued in 1994 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death.
