One interesting fact about the 30 Tari - Ferdinand von Hompesch 1798 coin from Malta is that it features a unique design element - a small image of a Maltese cross - which is located on the reverse side of the coin, surrounded by the inscription "FERDINANDUS III. D.G.R.I.S.A.C.D.1798" (Ferdinand III, by the grace of God, King of Sicily, Aragon, Castile, etc., 1798). This Maltese cross is a nod to the country's history and culture, as the Maltese cross is a symbol of the Order of Saint John, also known as the Knights Hospitaller, who ruled Malta from 1530 to 1798.
