USK#118.05The attribution by USK is clearly correct, but the list in KM is confusing. It is KM type A, as in the illustration of type KM#176 (correct date; but without the outer border around the toughra), whereas their description for KM#179 (correct date) states type E, which does not include the toughra. Further research essential!
Possibly KM#174 (but unlisted date; or error in reading date in the pictures here)
Very similar to 20 Para KM#166
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Mahmud II, who was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1808 to 1839. This coin was part of a series of coins issued during his reign to reform the Ottoman currency and stabilize the economy. The coin's design features the Sultan's name and title in Arabic script, as well as the date of issue in both the Islamic and Gregorian calendars. Additionally, the coin's material, Billon, was a common alloy used in coinage during that time period, consisting of a mixture of copper, silver, and other metals.
