Original reports of this type say the reverse is an incuse donkey's head; however, on clearer examples, it appears to be some sort of ray.

Interesting fact

The 30 Centesimae coin from Populonia (Etruria) features an incuse design, which means that the image on the coin is sunken into the surface rather than being raised. This design was used to prevent counterfeiting and to make the coin more difficult to copy.
