Date of issue: 27 DEC 1994The 9,302-km Trans-Siberian Railway linking Moscow with Vladivostok, Siberia's main transport artery, is the longest railway in the world. The 7,500-km Siberian section of the railway, runs from the Ural Mountains to Vladivostok via Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Taishet, Bratsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and Khabarovsk. Built from 1891 to 1916, since 1967 the Trans-Siberian Railway has been used for running container services between Europe and Japan.
