The 9,302-km Trans-Siberian Railway linking Moscow with Vladivostok, Siberia's main transport artery, is the longest railway in the world. The 7,500-km Siberian section of the railway, runs from the Ural Mountains to Vladivostok via Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Taishet, Bratsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and Khabarovsk. Built from 1891 to 1916, since 1967 the Trans-Siberian Railway has been used for running container services between Europe and Japan.

Interesting fact

The Trans-Siberian Railway coin (1994) was minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which was a massive infrastructure project that connected Moscow to Vladivostok and significantly reduced travel time between Europe and Asia. The coin's design features an image of a train and a map of the railway route, symbolizing the historic achievement and its impact on Russia's development.
