Date of issue: 03 JUL 2006The Building of the State Bank in the city of Nizhny Novgorod (built in 1913, architect V. A. Pokrovsky) is an original construction that reminds together of a medieval castle and an ancient Russian terem (chamber). The inside rooms of the bank have been painted according to designs of the artist I. Bilibin.

The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Nizhny Novgorod, which includes a depiction of the city's historic Kremlin, a symbol of the city's rich history and cultural heritage.
