The icon "The Transfiguration" which is now kept in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery has been painted by Theophanes the Greek for the Cathedral of the Saviour's Transfiguration, (the town of Pereslavl Zalessky).

Interesting fact

The Transfiguration icon featured on the coin is a representation of a famous icon from the Novosibirsk Museum of Local Lore, which is one of the most revered icons in Russia. The icon depicts the transfiguration of Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor, as described in the New Testament. The icon is considered a masterpiece of Russian iconography and is highly venerated by the Orthodox Church.
