Date of issue: 18 MAR 1999During his banishment to Mikhailovskoye, in the Pskov province, from 1824 till 1826 the poet created the main chapters of the novel in verse «Evgeny Onegin», cycles of some love lyric and the tragedy «Boris Godunov» which had became a decisive moment of his creative evolution.

The interesting fact about this coin is that it features a portrait of Alexander Pushkin, one of Russia's most celebrated poets and writers, on the obverse (front side), while the reverse (back side) depicts a scene from his poem "The Bronze Horseman" which is set in Mikhailovskoye, Pushkin's estate in Russia.
