Comment

KM#17 is a similar-looking coin listed in Krause as being made at the Bromberg mint in 1625 for the Swedish Occupation of Riga. With Sweden already controlling Riga in 1625, and with KM#17's legend only making reference to the Kingdom of Poland (with no mention of Livonia or Riga), that coin would have actually been issued for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The exact lettering of the surrounding legend may vary.

1622:
1) GVST · ADOLD · D : G · REX · S · / MONE · NOV - CIVI · RIGE ·
2) GVST · ADOLD · D : G · REX · S · / MON · NOVA - CIVI · RIGE ·
3) GVST · ADOLD · D : G · REX · S · / MON · NOV - CIVI · RIGE ·

Interesting fact

The Gustav II Adolf 3 Polker coin from the City of Riga (Swedish Livonia) is interesting because it was minted during a time of great change and turmoil in Europe. The coin was minted in 1622, just a few years after the end of the Thirty Years' War, which had devastated much of the continent. Additionally, the coin was minted during the reign of Gustav II Adolf, who was a powerful and influential king of Sweden, known for his military conquests and his efforts to expand Sweden's territory and influence. Despite the challenges of the time, the coin remains a testament to the enduring power and prosperity of the Swedish Empire.
