Interesting fact

The 3 Mils coin from Malta, made of Aluminium-magnesium, was the first coin in the world to feature a hole in the center. This unique design was introduced in 1972 and was used until 2006. The hole was intended to make the coin easier to distinguish from other coins and to reduce the risk of counterfeiting.
