Comment

Valentin Janus was mint master and leaseholder of minting rights starting from 1592. From 1614, he took over the mint of Neisse and engraved almost all the dies of the coins of Brixen until 1618. His mint mark was two crossed forge hooks with a star above and one below.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 3 Kreuzers coin from the Bishopric of Brixen is that it was minted during the reign of Charles the Posthumous, who was the son of Emperor Ferdinand II and never actually ruled, as he died at the age of 17. Despite this, coins were still minted in his name, making them a unique piece of history.
