Orbicular webs are so widespread that it's easy to forget just how extraordinary they are. The first piece of scaffolding is laid when the spider climbs a vertical surface, such as a tree trunk, from which it drops a thread of silk that is extremely fine, but one of the strongest materials on the planet. This thread floats in the wind until it finds a second anchor point, such as a branch, to create a horizontal bridge from the middle of which the spider drops another thread. To this rudimentary framework, she attaches a non-sticky border and, through a series of complex maneuvers, makes radial lines (spokes) that run from the center to the periphery of the web. She then weaves her "capture spiral", a continuous double thread made of a particular type of sticky silk which she lays out centripetally, i.e. from the outside to the center, excreting a special glue which she uses to reinforce each point of intersection with a ray. The non-sticky center of the web serves as a resting place where she awaits her prey.àSpecial features :

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the "Spider and its Web" silver coin is that it features a unique reverse design that showcases a spider spinning its web. The coin's designer, Canadian artist Alexandra Lefort, used a combination of engraving and laser technology to create the intricate details of the spider's web, which appears to be suspended in mid-air thanks to the coin's proof finish. This innovative design technique adds a sense of depth and dimensionality to the coin, making it a standout piece in the Royal Canadian Mint's collection.
