The message behind the Ode to Love piece comes straight from the heart. The colorful flowers that dot the design symbolize the different shades of love: zinnias for friendship, forget-me-nots for an eternal bond, cosmos for deep feelings and daisies for true admiration. Symbols of commitment, affection and gratitude, these flowers perfectly embody the special bond that the two Swarovski crystals also represent. The design on the reverse, by Anna Bucciarelli, features an arrangement of selectively colored flowers and engraved acanthus leaves that form a symbol of love. The two large flowers, a zinnia and a pink daisy, are each enhanced by a Swarovski® crystal, evoking soul mates united by friendship and love. Blue and peach cosmos symbolize deep bonds, whether familial or romantic. The blue forget-me-not represents shared memories, while the gerbera daisy embodies the admiration and beauty of a happy life. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, according to Susanna Blunt.
Did you know?
The daisy is the sacred flower of Freya, the Nordic goddess of love and fertility. It symbolizes innocence, purity and friendship, and is often associated with motherhood or renewal. As a daisy is actually made up of two flowers, it's the perfect symbol of true love.
Fragrant and colorful, the cosmos (or flower of love) takes its name from the Greek kosmos, meaning "order", "universe" and "harmony".
True to its nickname ("don't forget me"), the forget-me-not is a symbol of eternal connection and ineffable love. The flower also represents Remembrance in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Zinnia is associated with many things, including friendship, kindness and eternal affection.
