This coin is minted to honor Archeological and Cultural Expert Mr. Satyamohan Joshi on his 100th year for his contribution in the field of Archeology and Culture plus helping Nepal Rashtra Bank with comments and suggestion while printing notes and minting coins for last 40 years. He is the first Nepali to be featured in the coin alive apart from the King.There is also a 100 Rs in Copper Nickel and a 1000 Rs issued with the same design.
