A glittering headband adorned with suspended pearls, the nœuds d'amour tiara is one of the most distinctive jewels in the royal collection. Its diamond-covered bows and drop-shaped pearls were the inspiration for this masterfully engraved tribute in 99.99% pure gold, whose four-faceted obverse commemorates the 95th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inlaid on the reverse, three natural freshwater pearls and seven sparkling diamonds add the finishing touch to our representation of the tiara. And it's no coincidence that these stones are there; they are magnificent anniversary gems, the diamonds representing Her Majesty's birth in April, and the pearls, the official celebrations in June. The love knot tiara
This famous jewel is also known as "Queen Mary's love knot tiara", as it was she who commissioned it from Garrard in 1913. Strongly inspired by the Cambridge love knot tiara worn by her grandmother and aunt, Queen Mary's tiara is adorned with the diamonds and pearls once found on the Ladies of England tiara. This royal headband was bequeathed to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, and later loaned to Diana, Princess of Wales. It was also frequently worn by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge.
Did you know?
Her Majesty celebrates her birthday twice! She was born on April 21, 1926, but in the UK, the monarch's birthday is always publicly celebrated on the second Saturday in June. This tradition, known as the "Salute to the Colours", dates back to the reign of King George II, who lived from 1683 to 1760.
The love-knot tiara originally featured pearls pointing upwards above the 19 diamond arches. These pearls came from the Daughters of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, one of Her Majesty's favorites, but Queen Mary later had them removed from the Love Knot tiara as well.
Packaging
The coin is individually encapsulated and presented in a luxurious wooden box embossed with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. It also comes with a black protective box and a special certificate attesting to the authenticity of the diamonds.
Interesting fact
The Lover's Knot Tiara coin features a unique design that showcases a knot-shaped tiara that is often worn by Queen Elizabeth II during formal events. The coin's design is inspired by the Queen's love for her husband, Prince Philip, and symbolizes the eternal bond of love and commitment.
