The Royal Canadian Mint's engravers have recreated one of the fan-shaped elements of the Brazilian aquamarine tiara worn by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Enhanced by a platinum plating, this reproduction is set with an arrangement of 12 diamonds and 7 aquamarines. Other embellishments inspired by the tiara add the final touch to this tribute.

The Brazilian aquamarine tiaraOne of a number of tiaras commissioned by Her Majesty, this one was made in 1957 to match a half-set of diamonds and aquamarines and matching earrings, presented by the Brazilian people on the occasion of the Queen's coronation. Originally, the tiara consisted of a platinum band surmounted by three vertical aquamarines surrounded by diamonds. Subsequent gifts of a bracelet and brooch in 1958, and a V-shaped hair ornament in 1968, provided the opportunity to enrich the tiara in 1971. The central element was replaced by the necklace's large pendant, and four fan-shaped elements - like the one on this piece - were added between the vertical oval stones, each topped by a bevel-set round aquamarine.
"To replicate the essence and grace of the tiara, I carved the engraved diamonds to give them angled facets at different heights, giving them the perfect sparkle and a more realistic appearance." - Cecily Mok, engraver at the Royal Canadian Mint

It took a full year to find the perfect match of aquamarines for Her Majesty's coronation gift.
The original tiara design consisted of three detachable vertical stones that could also be worn as brooches.
The tiara's fan-shaped elements come from a piece of jewelry presented to Her Majesty by the Governor of São Paulo in 1968, during the Queen's state visit to Brazil.
Her Majesty has worn the famous tiara at many official events, including an official banquet during the Spanish royalty's state visit in 2017.
Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a wooden case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with a black protective box.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features a unique combination of gold and platinum plating. The coin is made of 99.99% gold, but it also features selective platinum plating on certain design elements, such as the queen's crown and the background of the coin. This creates a striking contrast between the gold and platinum, making the coin truly stand out.
