Comment

Franz Joseph unveiled the statue shown on this coin in front of the  Albertina palace in 1896.  Regrettably, the statue's sculptor, Viktor Tilgner, had died a few days earlier.  Bombs damaged it during the Second World War, and it was relocated to Burggarten park, beside the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, after it was repaired in 1953.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1956 Austria 25 Schilling (Mozart) coin is that it was minted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth. The coin features a portrait of Mozart on one side and the Austrian coat of arms on the other. It was minted in silver (.800) and copper (.200) and weighs 13 grams.
